Those sleeves can be a concern, but so far mine have been just fine! Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Honestly, it’s a pedal that has surprised me in terms of build quality for the price. I was expecting more plastic!
Haha, same! I was prepared for cheap materials, but this one is an exception. It’s very refreshing.
I love how it looks too! The minimalist design adds to its charm. Has anyone tried dropping it accidentally? That would be interesting to know!
Gosh, I hope not! But for real, if it can survive that, it really would be a testament to its durability!
I’ve had the JHS Little Black Amp Box for a few months now, and it’s fantastic for getting tube amp tone at lower volumes. It really compresses the sound nicely.
Totally agree! The way it reacts with different amps is impressive. Have you compared it to the Radial JDX? It seems similar in vibe.
I own both the JHS and the Radial JDX, and while the JHS does provide a nice warm tone, I find the Radial more versatile for live settings.
Interesting! I’ve heard good things about the JDX, but I’m mainly looking for something simple and effective, which is why I was drawn to the JHS. How’s the build quality on the JDX?
The JDX is built like a tank! But honestly, for bedroom jamming or small gigs, the JHS Little Black Amp Box makes amp sound so rich without cranking it up - that’s where it excels.
I’ve owned a few different amp pedals, including the MXR M291 and they all have their strengths. The JHS definitely has a more pronounced midrange that I find really appealing!
Yeah, that’s true! It feels smoother compared to the MXR. But sometimes I wonder if it lacks a bit in the high-end sparkle?
I find that if you pair the JHS with a good EQ pedal, you can really brighten it up! It’s all about how you set it up with your gear.
Has anyone tried it with a low wattage amp? I’m curious if the tonal response changes significantly compared to using a regular amp.
That’s a good question! I generally play through a Fender Vibro Champ, and the JHS works surprisingly well to keep the tone warm even at low volumes.
I was a skeptic at first, but once I tried the Little Black Amp Box, it completely changed my perspective on pedalboard setups! It’s a game changer for both studio and stage.
Haha, same here! Now I think I might start an obsessive collection of pedals if it keeps getting better! Ever tried it with fuzz pedals? What a combo!
