Just for fun, I’ve tried sticking a mic in front of a fridge once—didn’t get the best sound! But now I always double-check my mic positioning before recording. LOL!
Haha! That reminds me: sometimes, we overthink it! The best sound can come from just being creative and staying open to new ideas.
I’m looking for a good bass guitar amp microphone as well! I’ve heard great things about the Shure SM57. It’s versatile and has a solid reputation.
The SM57 is fantastic! But if you’re willing to spend a bit more, the Sennheiser e906 is excellent for bass too, with a great frequency response.
I’ve used both the SM57 and the e906. Honestly, they both deliver great sound, but the e906 slightly edges out in terms of depth for my style of playing.
That’s good to know! I’m curious about budget options as well. Are there any decent mics that won’t break the bank?
Absolutely! The Audio-Technica AT2020 is a solid budget mic that performs well for bass. It’s affordable and has a nice clarity to it.
I’ve used the Rode NT1 and for the price, it’s impressive. Just mind the acoustics of your space because it can pick up a lot of background noise.
I see a lot of recommendations for that mic! Anyone tried the Rode NT1? I’ve heard mixed reviews but some say it shines with bass instruments.
Great point, Leslie! A good mic won’t work well in a noisy room. Also, if anyone’s interested, I found a deal on the AKG D112 - seems great for low frequencies.
Thanks, Jessica! That one has a good reputation but is it worth getting over the cheaper options if you’re just starting out?
I think it depends on how serious you are about your sound. If you plan to get better gear eventually, investing in a quality mic is wise. Plus, it’ll last longer!
