IEMs for Studio Mixing: Are They Worth It?

IEMs can isolate you, but I prefer to have my mixes sound good in an open environment too. Anyone else feel that way?

I remember using studio headphones for an entire session and then switching back to IEMs for a quick listen. It felt like I was compromising on detail!

Haha, that relatable moment when you realize you mixed with the wrong gear! It keeps mixing exciting, right?

While IEMs have become my go-to for tracking, studio headphones hold a special place for detailed mixing. Itā€™s a balance for sure!

I think both can coexist. Maybe itā€™s about knowing when to switch it up! Has anyone tried mixing exclusively with IEMs?

Mixing exclusively with IEMs? That sounds risky, but intriguing! I may have to try that out sometime!

Exactly! Sometimes, I use IEMs just for a fresh perspective on the mix and then refine it with studio headphones.

I find myself wondering if using IEMs for too long might lead to a skewed perception of sound. Anyone else worry about that?

Sure, mixing with IEMs can be fun, but Iā€™d rather keep my mixes consistent and check them on studio monitors. Canā€™t risk that!
