Looking for Recommendations on a Good Intermediate Drum Set

That’s right! Some brands are known for their great hardware, while others… not so much!

Honestly, the sound versatility is what I seek in a drum set. If it can adapt to different styles, it’s a winner for me!

Completely agree! You want a kit that can handle both soft jazz and hard rock!

The struggle is real! I might just go for a used kit; some of them are practically new and cost much less. Anyone had success with that?

If you’re looking for a solid intermediate drum set, I highly recommend the Pearl Export series. They offer a great balance of quality and price, and they sound amazing!

I’ve played on the Pearl Export, and they are indeed fantastic! I also think the Yamaha Stage Custom is worth mentioning. Just my two cents!

Has anyone tried the Ludwig Classic Maple? I’ve read great things about it, but would love to hear firsthand experiences.

I’ve played a Ludwig Classic Maple, and it has a warm sound. However, they are pricier than some other options.

I’d say the Tama Starclassic series is worth considering as well! They are incredibly durable, and the sound quality is top-notch.

Totally agree! Tama kits have a really punchy sound. They definitely cater well to intermediate players.

What about used options? Sometimes you can find great kits like Gretsch Renowned in good condition for less money.

That’s a great point! Used gear often gives you the best value. Just be sure to inspect for any damage!

I’ve seen some amazing deals on floor models at local music stores. They’re often discounted and still come with a warranty.

Absolutely! I think shopping during sales events can also yield some good finds.

I can’t believe I’m chiming in on a drum post…but if anyone ever played with a cajón instead, it’s a whole other level! Just saying!
