Marshall Valvestate VS100 Amp - Anyone Compared It to Other Amps?

I think the VS100 sounds great, but I do worry about those tube issues. Are there any preventative measures you guys take to avoid that kind of thing?

One tip I heard is to always transport it in a good case and keep it in a stable environment. It helps extend the life of the tubes dramatically.

That’s good advice! I’m curious if any users experience short-circuiting issues when gigging frequently.

No short-circuiting for me, but I’ve read some complaints about the power supply. It might be a small batch issue or just user error? Who knows!

Interesting! I just bought one and am keeping an eye on these potential issues. Has anyone noticed anything regarding the weight? Is it easy to carry?

It’s a bit heavy for me, but I use a hand truck to help with transport, and that makes a world of difference. Definitely worth the extra muscle!

That’s great to know! Weight can really be a drag. I guess it’s just part of having powerful sound, right?

Absolutely! But you know what they say, ‘No pain, no gain,’ right? Just think of it as your daily workout before the show!

Haha, love that perspective! Overall, from what I’m gathering, it seems like the VS100 is decent for gigging, just be prepared for a bit of weight and some occasional upkeep.

I’ve been using the Marshall Valvestate VS100 for over a year now. Its versatility is impressive, especially the clean and overdrive channels. I can easily switch between styles, from blues to harder rock.

That’s great to hear! How do you find the built-in effects? Are they any good?

The built-in effects are decent but not mind-blowing. They can add some flair to your sound, but I usually use external pedals for my live setups.

I’ve played styles ranging from jazz to metal with it. It handles both genres surprisingly well, although I prefer my other amp for true metal tones.

External pedals can make a huge difference! Do you have a favorite pedal you pair with it?

I love pairing it with a delay and overdrive pedal. It really enhances the Valvestate’s natural tone, especially for solos!

What other amp do you have? I’m curious about how they compare!

I primarily use a Mesa Boogie for metal. It has that heavy gain I crave, but the Marshall is great for versatility across genres.

In terms of connectivity, the VS100 has all the essential options. I appreciate the effects loop, which allows for easy integration with pedals.

Solid point! How does it perform at low volumes? Can it still deliver good tone?

At lower volumes, it holds up reasonably well, but like most amps, it really shines when cranked. You might not get the same punch without pushing it a bit.
