Pro Tools won't open - Help needed!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been running into some serious issues trying to get Pro Tools to open on my computer, and I could really use some help. I’ve tried a few things already, but nothing seems to work. Here’s a little background:

  1. System Information:

    • OS: Windows 10
    • Pro Tools Version: 2022.7
    • Computer Specs: 16GB RAM, Intel i7
  2. What I’ve Tried:

    • Restarting my computer
    • Checking for updates on both Pro Tools and my OS
    • Reinstalling Pro Tools (twice)
    • Running as Administrator

Despite all this, every time I try to launch Pro Tools, it hangs on the startup screen at the loading bar.

Questions:

  • Has anyone else encountered this issue?
  • Are there specific settings I should check?
  • Could any background applications be causing conflicts?

I’m really eager to get back to my projects, so any advice or solutions you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I was having trouble opening Pro Tools too! I kept seeing an error message that said “Unable to create the DAE deck”. Have you tried reinstalling? That worked for me.

I got that error too! I also tried checking my compatible devices and updating drivers. That helped me get up and running again. Always double-check your audio interfaces!

I’ve seen users mention the “Pro Tools has encountered a serious problem” error. Has anyone resolved that? I’d love suggestions because I’m struggling!

You could try launching with the ‘hold N’ method to select your playback engine. That often clears up some conflicts.

You might also want to check your plug-ins. If Pro Tools crashes on start, a corrupted plug-in could be the culprit. Sometimes disabling them in the installation folder helps!

Exactly! The ‘Plug-in folder’ can be a minefield. I had a friend who had to reinstall half their system because of one bad plug-in!

And for those of you getting the “DAE Error 14001”, try adjusting your hardware settings. Decreasing the buffer size can sometimes be a quick fix!

What if the buffer size adjustment doesn’t work? Is it always hardware related, or could it be software too? Just curious about that.

Definitely software could be an issue! I once faced a problem where my system wouldn’t load due to an OS update conflicting with the Pro Tools version. Always check if updates are compatible.

That’s true! I noticed sometimes forums suggest avoiding the latest updates until they’re tested with Pro Tools.

Ha! My experience? I had Pro Tools refuse to open for a week before realizing I had neglected to plug in my interface properly. Always check the basics first!

We’ve all been there! Sometimes the simplest things elude us. Now I’m checking my cables before every session!

Great discussion! If all else fails, it might be worth reaching out to Avid support directly. They can really help with unique issues that the community may not cover!

Make sure your system meets Pro Tools’ minimum requirements. Check your operating system, RAM, and processor specs! It can be a game-changer.

Exactly! I once struggled for days and it turned out I didn’t have enough RAM. Always double-check those specs!

Also, don’t forget about OS compatibility! Pro Tools often updates its requirements, so ensure your OS version aligns with the latest version of Pro Tools.

I had an installation fail because my antivirus was blocking it. Have you tried disabling any background programs?

That’s so relevant! I’ve learned the hard way that not all updates play nice together.

Don’t give up! Pro Tools can be finicky, but once you get it running, it’s incredibly powerful. What version are you trying to install?
