Thoughts on the Gibson 57 Classic Humbucker Pickup?

Anyone else had issues with the mounting screws? I found they were a bit short for my guitar. Had to run to the store mid-install!

Totally! I had the same problem. Always worth checking and possibly getting some extra screws just in case.

When drilling out the pickup holes, go slow! I accidentally drilled too deep once and messed up the wood. Not fun!

100%! I’ve learned the hard way as well. A small mistake can turn into a big repair job!

Any tips for grounding? I’ve heard bad grounding can lead to unwanted noise, which is my biggest fear with this install.

Definitely use a quality ground wire and make sure that all connections are clean. It’s better to be cautious now than regret it later!

Can someone explain what the ‘4-wire’ configuration is? I’ve seen it mentioned, but I’m not quite sure what it means.

It’s a wiring option that gives you more versatility, like coil-splitting. It’s handy if you want different sound options!

Don’t forget to check that the pickup height is set right. Too high or too low can completely change the tone you’re aiming for!

So true! A small adjustment can make a world of difference. It’s like tuning your guitar!

I’ve been using the Gibson 57 Classic Humbucker for years. Its warm, vintage tone really stands out compared to many modern pickups, which often feel too bright. It’s perfect for blues and classic rock!

I totally agree! The 57 Classic has this rich, creamy sound that modern pickups just can’t replicate. It feels like it breathes music!

Has anyone compared the 57 Classic with the Burstbucker series? I’m curious about how they stack up against each other in terms of output and tonal nuances.

That’s an interesting question! While the Burstbuckers can be a bit more aggressive, the 57 Classics maintain a smoother, warmer character overall.

I’ve tried multiple pickups, but the 57 Classic consistently delivers clear, balanced sound. Whether clean or distorted, it holds its ground! It’s also great for jazz.

It’s interesting that you mention jazz. The 57s have that smoothness which really lends itself well to the genre. I find them less harsh than some of the modern high-output pickups.

I’ve recently switched from the EMG to the 57 Classic. The difference is night and day! The dynamics and organic feel of the 57s just make me want to play more.

That’s the key! The 57 Classic invites expression. It’s hard to put down once you start playing it!

Anyone had issues with feedback while using the 57 Classics? I’ve seen mixed reviews about their resistance to unwanted noise in high-gain situations.

I’ve had my 57 Classics in various settings, and they seemed to manage feedback decently well. Just keep your gain levels in check, and they’ll perform beautifully!
