Headphones That Don't Leak Sound - Need Recommendations!

I’ve been on the hunt for a good pair of headphones that won’t disturb others while I’m listening to music or podcasts. With so many options out there, it’s tough to know which ones really keep the sound in and prevent leakage.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Closed-back or noise-cancelling options.
  • Comfortable for long wear (I often use them while studying or working).
  • Good sound quality, of course!
  • Price range? I’d like to keep it reasonable, say under $300.

My Experience So Far:
I’ve tried a couple of models that were advertised as having great sound isolation, but I still found them lacking in that department. At coffee shops or on public transport, I noticed people glancing in my direction when I cranked up the volume. Not cool!

Recommendations Please!
I’d love to hear about your personal experiences with headphones that truly deliver on minimizing sound leakage. Are there any specific brands or models you swear by? Also, any advice on where to buy them or things to watch out for when making a purchase would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I highly recommend closed-back headphones for sound isolation. They really help with sound leakage, especially in public places. Brands like Audio-Technica and Sony have some great options!

I agree! Closed-back designs like the Bose QuietComfort series are excellent. The noise cancellation helps a lot in maintaining sound quality without leaking outside.

For a more portable option, in-ear monitors (IEMs) are fantastic! They fit snugly in your ear and keep sound contained. I’ve had great experiences with brands like Shure and Etymotic.

That’s true! I use them while commuting. They block out most of the noise and I never have to worry about sound leakage.

Are noise-canceling headphones really worth it? I’ve heard mixed reviews, especially with some models that still leak sound. Can anyone share their experiences?

In my experience, they are fantastic for quiet environments! However, they can leak a bit if the volume is too high. It’s a balance you need to find.

I’ve found that some over-ear headphones like the Sennheiser HD series have great sound isolation. They completely engulf your ears, reducing leakage significantly. Just be careful with the volume!

Good point! Volume control is key. I’ve seen people with earbuds blasting music, and everyone around can hear it. Not ideal!

I’m all for using noise-canceling headphones. They save me when working at cafes, but I agree, higher volume can be an issue. Do you think brands like Apple AirPods Pro leak more than others?

Honestly, I think most brands have their pros and cons, but AirPods are pretty notorious for sound leakage. They fit well, but not as isolating as others!

It seems like everyone has a preference. Whether it’s over-ear, in-ear, or noise-cancelling, it’s about finding what suits you. Happy hunting for the right headphones!

I’m on the hunt for headphones that don’t leak sound too! I’ve heard good things about the Sony WH-1000XM4. Anyone tried them?

I’ve used the WH-1000XM4 for over a year, and I can vouch for their minimal sound leakage. They’re comfy too!

I definitely recommend the Bose QuietComfort 35 II. The noise cancellation is top-notch, and sound leakage is almost nonexistent, especially at higher volumes.

I’ve been considering those! How’s the comfort for extended use?

The Bose QC 35 II are super comfortable, even for long listening sessions! I’ve worn them for hours without any discomfort.

I’ve tested the Sennheiser Momentum 3, and while they sound great, they do have a slight leakage. Not the best option for quiet places.

That’s disappointing! What about the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x? Anyone tried those?

The ATH-M50x are solid, but they can leak a bit at higher volumes. They’re great for sound isolation, though!
