Thoughts on the Yamaha Stage Custom 20" Bass Drum?

I do the same! A little lemon oil on the bass drum hoop really keeps things looking nice. Just be careful, it can be a bit slippery!

Funny you say slippery! I dropped my stick once when I was trying that lemon oil trick. Now I stick to just regular cleaning! But hey, it works.

I’ve noticed that the Yamaha Stage Custom has a punchy tone. The birch construction gives it a nice attack which is beneficial during performances. Has anyone tried changing the heads to get different sounds?

Yes! A coated batter head really warms up the tone if you’re looking to mellow it out a bit. It’s all about experimenting!

That’s interesting! I’ve tried a few heads but felt the stock ones were pretty good as is. Do you think the upgrades are worth it, or should I just stick with what I have?

I’d say it depends on your music style. If you’re playing softer styles, an upgrade might be beneficial, but for rock or pop, the stock heads can really cut through! Just my two cents.

I love how this drum fits various genres! It’s become a staple in my rig. Nothing but good vibes with my Yamaha Stage Custom; longevity has been on my side.

I’ve had my Yamaha Stage Custom 20" bass drum for about a year now, and setup is a breeze. It’s super lightweight, which is great for gigging musicians. Definitely pairs well with a double pedal too.

I totally agree! The weight is perfect for easy transport. I’ve paired mine with a DW 5000 pedal, and it feels just right.

I noticed that the Yamaha Stage Custom offers decent sound versatility. It works excellently in jazz and rock setups!

I love how the 20" bass drum fits easily in most setups. Pairing it with a good set of hardware makes all the difference for stability while playing.

Totally! I’ve played everything from rock to funk, and it delivers beautifully. Just make sure you tune it right.

How does this bass drum handle different genres? I’m curious about its responsiveness in heavy styles compared to lighter ones.

I’ve used it in a heavier setup with a metal band, and I was surprised at how well it cut through! For lighter styles, like jazz, it’s very responsive too, with a warm tonality.

Just as isuarez mentioned, it’s pretty versatile. I think it can handle pretty much anything once you find the right tuning.

Overall, I think the Yamaha Stage Custom 20" is an excellent choice for beginners and seasoned drummers alike. It’s user-friendly and adaptable.

I find it humorous how many drummers still struggle with setting up a bass drum. With the Yamaha Stage Custom, you won’t have any hiccups!

I completely agree. Plus, it looks pretty stylish! What gear do you all pair it with?

I usually pair mine with a Pearl hardware set, and it meshes beautifully! Just be careful with heavier toms since it can slightly affect the resonance.
